Residents may have heard that the Government has publicised a proposed temporary relaxation to planning regulations, under which the depth of single-storey extensions requiring planning permission would become 8 metres rather than 4 metres (for detached houses), or 6 metres rather than 3 metres (for semi-detached houses). The Roads Committee wishes to point out the following:
- At present, the proposal is for consultation; it has not become law at this point, nor has the consultation document even been published at the time of writing;
- Building alterations, whether they require planning permission or not, must comply with Building Regulations, which normally require that they be inspected and cleared by a council officer;
- The permission of the Directors of CHRC is required, whether proposed alterations require planning permission or not. The Estate requires that all proposals be submitted to the Development Subcommittee (through Jonathan Pegler), ideally before any application is made for planning permission, so that ideas and plans can be discussed before plans are finalised.
We are taking this opportunity to make available, for your information, the current version of the CHRC Development Policy, to which the Directors have reference in deciding on the suitability of all proposed developments or alterations to houses on the Estate. Here is a link to the Archive page to two files, in both Word and PDF, from CHRC and Chiltern District.
