Dear resident,
You may be aware of the damage done to Lewis Lane in between Bochym and Toft Monks as a result of the water mains bursting on 4th May 2013. Affinity Water inspected the road this afternoon and has advised that the road requires immediate attention. Whilst unlikely to subside further, because of a temporary solution further possible movement cannot be completely ruled out.
Therefore, on the grounds of safety the repair work has been rushed through and scheduled to take place this Saturday, 15th June 2013.
As a result of the scale of the works, Lewis Lane will be completely closed between 6.00am and 6.00pm at the said location between Toft Monks and Bochym House and there will be no vehicular access between these hours.
If you are intending to use your car or motorcycle between these hours then you are advised to move your vehicles off Lewis Lane beforehand and park them conveniently on Chiltern Hill, Sandy Rise or Lincoln Road. Please park considerately — not on verges or opposite driveways, and not close to junctions which could be dangerous.
If you are expecting delivery vehicles (eg. DHL, Tesco, UPS or Ocado) to arrive at your house during this period can we ask you to make appropriate alternative arrangements, because they won’t get through.
To the residents of Chiltern Hill, Sandy Rise and Lincoln Road: we ask for your support and work with us on this slight inconvenience by not obstructing the parking of vehicles by residents of Lewis Lane.
We hope that everyone will appreciate the necessity of carrying out this work and help us to achieve what will be a safe road once again. Should you have any questions regarding the work please do not hesitate to Contact us through the website contact form.
