You’ll remember at the AGM last month there was enthusiasm for the estate setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, to complement the distribution of police alerts we already do, and to allow us to erect formal signage as a deterrent against crime. We’ve since been in contact with the police, the district council and the Chalfont St Peter Community Safety Group (who help new schemes get started).

The first thing we need to do is get a handful of volunteers who are willing to a) help check that there’s support for the idea on their particular road and b) if there is sufficient support, get the scheme up and running.

    Could you help?

This is really a repeat of the call we made at the AGM and in the leaflet afterwards, for any residents who are interested in getting involved to put their names forward. A number have already done so; we would welcome any new volunteers, but we are particularly looking for residents from:

    • Winkers Lane
    • Sandy Rise
    • Lincoln Road and/or Spur
    • Woodside Hill.

For all other roads, we have at least one name of a volunteer; but some are big roads, so please do say if you’d be willing to help.

    Timing

We are planning a meeting on the evening of Tuesday 1st May with the Community Safety Group to discuss the first steps in researching support and setting up a scheme. Please could you let me know by Wednesday April 25th if you’d be willing to help get Neighbourhood Watch going on the estate, and in particular help with arrangements on your own road?
