Chiltern Hill Break-Ins

As well as the police message below about a burglary in Welders Lane, I’m afraid I need to report that two homes in upper Chiltern Hill experienced break-ins to their garden sheds during the last week. In both cases the door hinges were unscrewed. Some items were taken from one of the sheds, which adjoins the field at the back of Chiltern Hill and Ellis Avenue. Update from Bob Burge on preparations for winter, new grit bins, and road sweeping.

CHRC have purchased four additional grit bins in forest green. Three 400 litre bins have been placed in the following locations on Chalfont Heights Estate:

at the top of Lewis Lane near the small island
at the foot of Chiltern Hill
at the mid point of Sandy Rise, replacing the smaller 200 litre bin previously located there.

Clocks going back time to check your locks

There has been a small spate in burglary offences in the Chiltern District where criminals have used an instrument to drill out rear/patio door locks. These types of locks are believed to be euro cylinder locks which are generally found on uPVC doors. This way of gaining entry is called “lock snapping” a term used to describe the ability to damage/break the internal mechanism of the Euro profile lock, allowing potential criminals to gain entry.

Development Policy in Chalfont Heights

Residents may have heard that the Government has publicised a proposed temporary relaxation to planning regulations, under which the depth of single-storey extensions requiring planning permission would become 8 metres rather than 4 metres (for detached houses), or 6 metres rather than 3 metres (for semi-detached houses).  The Roads Committee wishes to point out the following:

Halloween – Chiltern Community Safety Partnership Advice

With just over two weeks to go until Halloween, Chiltern Community Safety Partnership is encouraging residents to display posters in their front windows at Halloween to show whether or not they welcome visits from trick or treaters. Thames Valley Police Notice

Thames Valley Police is appealing for the public’s help in finding a 35-year-old man from Buckinghamshire, who has been reported missing. Jason Evans was last seen leaving his home in Earl Howe Road, Holmer Green, heading towards the village centre, at about 6pm on Monday 17 September.

Jason is known to frequent High Wycombe but it is now believed he may be in the central London area.
