URGENT – CHRC Response to Chiltern District Council public consultation on Gypsy, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople

Posted on: October 4th, 2013 by Alan Lane

Chalfont Heights Roads Committee Limited has submitted its response to Chiltern District Council’s public consultation regarding Gypsy, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople Site Options.

The response objects to the identification of Area 4 as a potentially suitable site and makes the point that with four other sites in the immediate neighbourhood, Chalfont St Peter has arguably provided more than its fair share of sites.

The grounds for objection in relation to Area 4 include the following:

  • the proposal is contrary to the Council’s own policies
    • it should have been excluded at Stage One because it is in a designated Area of Little Change
    • it will not be possible to provide adequate visual and acoustic screening
    • it will not be possible to connect to existing infrastructure – particularly sewers – without placing an unsustainable additional burden on them
    • under its own Core Strategy 14, the Council cannot propose a site within the Green Belt unless it can demonstrate – which it has not – that there are NO other sites available outside the Green Belt
  • the infrastructure of the village will be inadequate, given impending developments at The Holy Cross site, The NSE and elsewhere
  • increased pedestrian traffic along the rights of way over the adjacent fields would give rise to additional security risks
  • public reaction – whether justified or not – to a site adjacent to the Paccar Scout Camp would be hostile and damaging

We encourage residents of the Estate who have a view about the suitability or otherwise of Area 4 as a site for Gypsies or Travellers to make their own individual submissions following the procedure set out on the Council’s website at http://www.chiltern.gov.uk/planning/deliverydevelopmentplandocument  In making submissions, residents should bear in mind that:

  • the Council is likely to disregard in their entirety any submissions containing discriminatory or offensive material;
  • individually drafted submissions are likely to carry more weight than those containing material cut and pasted from other submissions or sources.

The deadline for receipt of submissions by the Council is Monday, 14th October. Click HERE for the Response Form.

CSP Annual Parish Meeting: Chance to make a difference and be better informed

All residents of Chalfont St Peter are invited to attend the Annual Parish Council Meeting on Wednesday May 15, to be held at 7.30 in the Parish Council offices. This is an ideal opportunity to meet your parish council representatives, to hear the work they have been doing tirelessly on your behalf over the last year, to ask questions and to make comments on village issues that concern you. There will also be an opportunity for brief feedback on –
·         the Holy Convent judicial review update and way forward
·         the new waste collection system soon to be introduced by BCC
·         our soon-to-initiated Woodlands and Commons Management plan

Over coffee or a glass of wine, villagers will also be able to chat informally to representatives from the District council, the County Council, our own Parish Council and our local community police officers.

Please submit any specific questions you may have that you would like the parish council to consider to the Clerk on [email protected], or by telephone on 01753 891582 (please submit questions at least 48 hours before the meeting).

Please come along to hear what is going on in your village and to make your voice heard.
We look forward to seeing you there!

ter Neighbourhood Plan Logo

Our Parish Council is producing a Chalfont St Peter Neighbourhood Plan for the village. It is part of a new approach to planning brought about by the government through the Localism Act. This is a real opportunity for you to have a say about the future of your village!

We are holding a drop-in event for two days over the 10th and 11th May. This event will be the first of two major opportunities for the residents of Chalfont St Peter to input their ideas to the plan. This workshop will be a key step in the process of setting the topics and issues that the plan could cover. At the drop-in event you will be able to:

  • Find out more about Neighbourhood Planning and what it means for Chalfont St Peter
  • Tell us what you think of the topics the plan could cover and if we have missed any of the key issues that will face Chalfont St Peter in the future
  • Tell us what you like and dislike about Chalfont St Peter on ‘the good, the bad and the ugly map’
  • Have a chat with members of the team producing the plan
  • Make notes in a general comments book

Severe Disruption Due to Road Closure in Chalfont St Peter

Posted on: February 21st, 2013 by Alan Lane

Plans are going ahead by Bucks County Council to close off the High Street by the roundabout off the A413 and this is going to have an impact on the traffic around the village and potentially through the Estate. If you have not read the minutes from the 57th AGM, which were circulated prior to the recent AGM, the Committee would encourage you to do so.

Residents who attended the AGM on Friday 8th February will know the Committee are taking action on behalf of the residents of Chalfont Heights and our agreed plan will be outlined in the Minutes of the most recent meeting, which will be circulated within the next 2 weeks.

If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us using the contact page. Bucks County Council Roadworks can be viewed HERE

Notice of ‘critical’ road closure in Chalfont St Peter

Posted on: January 5th, 2013 by George Eykyn

Bucks County Council has published plans to shut a key road in Chalfont St Peter for several months, starting on Monday 14 January.

The Bucks CC website indicates that Chalfont St Peter High Street will be closed between The Greyhound Inn and Market Place roundabout from 14 Jan to 17 May 2013.  Bucks CC assesses the impact of this closure as “severe”.

Chalfont Heights Roads Committee is actively working on plans to mitigate the effect of this extended road closure.

Halloween Message from Thames Valley Police

Posted on: October 30th, 2012 by Alan Lane

Message sent by, Jen Shraga (Police, Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), )

Worried by Halloween?  If you do not wish to be called upon “No trick or treat posters” can be downloaded from www.thamesvalley.police.uk. Remember this Halloween don’t open your door if you’re unsure who is there. Use your spy-hole, look out of a window or use your door chain.

Looking forward to Halloween?  Police on the Chiltern and South Bucks LPA want everyone to have a happy and safe time and ask parents to remind their children that some people can be scared when people knock on their door after dark; TVP ask parents to remind their children to be considerate and to respect the ‘No trick or treat’ door signs.

What are the local police doing? Operation Ghostbuster has started, a local police operation aimed preventing incidents of Anti Social Behaviour from happening, rather than dealing with the aftermath.   A large number of officers are working each evening from now until Bonfire Night, and will be out and about at locations where they feel there is the potential for trouble or are vulnerable to trouble.

For crime in progress : dial 999.  For non-emergencies call the police non-emergency number : dial 101

Residents may wish to report any low levels acts of Anti Social behaviour or incidents where they see or hear groups gathering and feel there could be problems. If the police are notified early we respond more quickly and can deal with these groups before issues escalated.

Remember the 999 number should only be used for emergencies.
