At the AGM residents discussed the issue of crime prevention on the estate. We heard from the local neighbourhood policing Sergeant, and from a professional security consultant. The message was overwhelmingly positive: that we have good levels of individual security and a strong community spirit.
One suggestion raised by both the police and the security expert was of the estate forming a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. A show of hands at the AGM showed strong support for this. A number of people have volunteered to help organise Neighbourhood Watch on their roads. Before a scheme can be set up, residents would need to be consulted and there must be a majority on each road.
If you are interested in helping to set up and run a Neighbourhood Watch scheme on the estate, please can you let us know? Please tell us your contact details, house name and road. You can do this by
• sending an email to [email protected] or, if email isn’t easy for you,
• dropping a note with your name and contact details to
There were also suggestions at the AGM that we research becoming a No Doorstep Selling Zone. Again a majority of households need to be in favour before this can happen. We will ask residents their view on this topic when we survey support for Neighbourhood Watch.
